Merry Christmas!

We had a nice, quiet Christmas... On Christmas Eve, we enjoyed a nice homemade tamales meal; on the 25th, we had all the trimmings of a Christmas dinner featuring a yummy smoked turkey.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season and may 2008 bring you all much joy, blessings and good health.

Thanksgiving in Big Bend!

As usual, the Waldrons celebrated Thanksgiving at Big Bend again. We loved the hikes we did this year - taking off on one that was quite adventuresome since it was less explored by hikers. We had a blast and ate very well at the Gage's Cenizo Restaurant - its Thankgiving meal buffet is simply fantastic and we look forward to it every year. We are hoping that we can have a Waldron/Allan family reunion - Darryl's sister Dawn and her family and daughter Ashley and kids - for Thanksgiving 2008. We hope these pics/movie clips will convince them to come and join us.

Snow Fun in West Texas!

We decided to spend our last day around the Big Bend area in Alpine just so that we could dine at Reata - an amazing restaurant that serves "cowboy" cuisine. A real treat! And we were so glad we went because it snowed a ton. As you can see, the boys had a blast. Ayon... not so much after the first day ;)

A little movie clip of the boys playing with the snow:

Visiting Fabi and Alex in Irvine

The plus of Ayon's work is that she travels often to So. California, giving her a chance to visit her sister Fabiana, broher-in-law Alexandre and precious niece Gisella.

Ayon doing the MS150

Due to work travels, Ayon wasn't able to train well for a marathon this year. Instead, she joined the Equipo Bromley who participated in the MS150: 160+ miles two day bicycle ride from San Antonio to Corpus Christi to raise funds for the multisclerosis society.

June's Family Trip - Spain and London

Darryl presented a paper at a conference in Granada in June. So we also got to visit other cities nearby, including Marbella and Malaga. Unfortunately, we lost our pics due to a camera malfunction. After Spain we headed to London to meet Isabel, Aquico and Em's precious baby who just arrived this year.

It was also a Wen Family reunion in London: Sister Fabiana, her husband Alex and their cutie Gisella joined us as well as cousin Ayico and his wife and children. Ayico grew up with the Wen's in Brazil and now lives in Taiwan so it was quite a trip for the Liu family. We went all over London to show it to Ayico and his family. And we also got to the outskirts of the city to visit Legoland and pick fresh berries!

June's Family Trip - Spain and London

Emily was a saint with a newborn and hosting the entire Wen and Liu Clan! The Waldron's hope to treat you and your family here in Texas and reciprocate the wonderful hospitality.

Springbreak at Big Bend National Park!

It's become a family tradition to, whenever possible, spend our Springbreak and Thanksgivings at Big Bend National Park or its surrounding area towns: Marfa (home of the Chinati Foundation - modern art museum), Ft. Davis (where those visiting the McDonald Observatory usually find lodging) and Alpine. The images below tell you why we love the area so much.
And here are the interestingly beautiful plants, among other interesting sightings, from our trip.
